Targeted nerve block could slash surgery pain and opioid use

NCT ID NCT07393763

Summary

This study tested if adding a targeted nerve block to standard general anesthesia could improve pain control after major abdominal surgery. Researchers compared pain levels and opioid medication use in 46 adults who received either standard anesthesia or standard anesthesia plus the nerve block. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after surgery.
