First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests whether a specific nerve block (intertransverse process block) can help adults recover better and have less pain after heart surgery. About 96 people having elective heart surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the block improves quality of recovery in the first day and reduces the chance of chronic pain lasting months after surgery.
