Double nerve block could slash heart surgery pain
NCT ID NCT06285773
Summary
This study tested whether combining two specific nerve block injections could better manage pain after open-heart surgery. Researchers enrolled 40 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass to see if these ultrasound-guided blocks reduced pain scores and improved recovery in the first 24 hours after surgery. The goal was to find a more effective way to control post-surgical pain, potentially reducing the need for strong opioid painkillers and their side effects.
