New training teaches pain acceptance to ease suffering
NCT ID NCT07067619
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new training program that teaches people with chronic pain and emotional distress to accept their pain rather than fight it. The program is based on dialectical thinking, which helps people hold two ideas at once: wanting the pain to stop while also accepting it as it is. Researchers will measure changes in pain levels, self-confidence, and mood in 100 adults aged 18-70. The goal is to see if this approach can reduce pain and improve daily functioning.
