Does it really work? new trial takes on placebo effect in pain treatment
NCT ID NCT07468591
First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study aims to find out if a newer form of spinal cord stimulation (called paresthesia-free) actually reduces pain, or if the benefit is just a placebo effect. About 90 adults with severe chronic pain will receive both active stimulation and a placebo (inactive) period, without knowing which is which. The results will help doctors understand if this treatment truly works.
