New hope for scarred bone marrow? drug trial targets tough blood cancer complication

Summary
This study is testing if the drug pacritinib can reduce harmful scarring (fibrosis) in the bone marrow of patients with myelofibrosis, a type of blood cancer, who also have low platelet counts. It will involve about 30 patients who will take the drug for up to two years. Researchers will use bone marrow biopsies and MRI scans to see if the scarring improves and if the drug helps patients become less dependent on blood transfusions.
