Could a faster pacemaker setting boost brain health in seniors?
NCT ID NCT07589452
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether setting a pacemaker to a slightly higher rate (75 beats per minute) instead of the usual 60 bpm can improve heart function and blood flow to the brain in people aged 65+ with high blood pressure and a slow heart rate. About 70 participants will be randomly assigned to one of two pacemaker settings and followed for 3 months. The goal is to see if a personalized rate helps the heart pump better and supports brain health.
