Could a pacemaker help you breathe easier? new heart failure trial investigates

NCT ID NCT06992089

Summary

This study is testing if a pacemaker can help people with a specific type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but is stiff and doesn't speed up properly during activity. Thirty patients will have a pacemaker implanted and then be randomly assigned to have it turned on or off for 3-month periods to see if it improves their ability to exercise and their quality of life. The main goal is to see if the pacemaker helps patients use oxygen more efficiently during physical exertion.
