Heart failure trial pits surgery against pills

NCT ID NCT05029570

Summary

This study is comparing two ways to manage heart failure in people who also have a permanent irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation). One group will get a pacemaker and a minor heart procedure to regulate their heartbeat, while the other group will receive standard medication. Researchers will follow 334 participants for three years to see which approach better prevents death, hospital stays, or worsening heart failure.
