Parasite enzyme tested as potential Crohn's disease treatment

NCT ID NCT02281916

Summary

This study tested whether a protein from a parasite could help control inflammation in people with moderate Crohn's disease. Ten patients received three monthly injections of P28GST to check if it was safe and might prevent the disease from returning after surgery. Researchers monitored side effects for a year and looked for changes in inflammation markers and disease activity.
