First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at how breathing in ozone, a common air pollutant, affects immune cells in the lungs. 135 healthy adults breathed either clean air or low-level ozone, then coughed up sputum samples. Researchers measured the types of immune cells (macrophages) in those samples to understand how the lungs respond to ozone.
