Can a 'Trust Hormone' spray help ease the social isolation of schizophrenia?

NCT ID NCT06136390

Summary

This study tested whether using an oxytocin nasal spray before mindfulness group therapy could better help people with schizophrenia. Oxytocin is a hormone linked to social bonding. Researchers wanted to see if this combination could reduce symptoms like social withdrawal and lack of emotion more than therapy alone. Forty-two participants were randomly given either the oxytocin spray or a placebo spray before weekly therapy sessions for four weeks.
