Could a common diabetes drug unlock the 'Love Hormone' secret in brain disorders?
NCT ID NCT04897802
Summary
This study aimed to understand if people with pituitary gland disorders have lower levels of oxytocin, a hormone linked to mood, social behavior, and appetite. Researchers gave 42 participants (both healthy volunteers and patients) either a diabetes medication (exenatide) or a placebo to see how it affected their oxytocin levels. The goal was to gather knowledge, not to provide a treatment, by measuring hormone changes and linking them to questionnaires about mental health and quality of life.
