C-Section bleeding mystery: scientists track Oxytocin's every move

NCT ID NCT05488457

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how the drug oxytocin works in women having a C-section. Oxytocin is used to help the uterus contract and prevent heavy bleeding after delivery, but it doesn't always work. Researchers will measure oxytocin levels in the blood and compare them to how well the uterus tightens. The goal is to understand why some women don't respond to the standard dose. About 100 women having planned or unplanned C-sections will take part.
