First seen Dec 04, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving oxytocin (a natural hormone linked to social bonding) before group therapy helps people with schizophrenia feel less withdrawn and more connected. 42 adults with schizophrenia took part in a triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The goal was to see if oxytocin could improve negative symptoms like lack of motivation and social interest.
