First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether oxytocin, a natural hormone, can boost the pain-relieving effect of vibration on sunburned skin. 38 healthy adults with mild sunburn received either oxytocin or a placebo while vibration was applied. The goal was to see if the combination raised the temperature at which they felt heat pain. Results may lead to new ways to manage pain from sunburns.
