Could a special gel make canker sores disappear faster?

NCT ID NCT06910579

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether an oxygenated gel can reduce pain and speed up healing of canker sores (aphthous ulcers) compared to a standard steroid gel. Thirty adults with a single small ulcer will apply the gel twice daily for 7 days. Researchers will check pain levels and ulcer size over 10 days.

Active substance

oxygenated gel

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new, simple option for faster relief from painful canker sores.

What could go wrong

This is a small early trial with only 30 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The gel may not work better than standard care.
