New oxygen method tested to keep patients safer during scans

NCT ID NCT06610461

Summary

This study tested whether using a high-flow nasal oxygen system is better than standard oxygen masks or nasal tubes at preventing dangerously low oxygen levels during upper endoscopy procedures. It involved 180 patients at higher risk for breathing problems during sedation. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either the high-flow oxygen or standard care during their procedure, and doctors tracked their oxygen levels and any needed breathing interventions.
