Pressurized oxygen tested as new hope for easing opioid withdrawal

NCT ID NCT05924022

Summary

This study is testing whether breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) can help reduce withdrawal symptoms when people try to lower their methadone dose for opioid addiction. It will compare two different pressure levels against a fake treatment in 36 participants. The goal is to see if this therapy makes it easier to taper off medication and manage withdrawal discomfort.
