Nighttime breathing risks uncovered after weight loss surgery

NCT ID NCT07174674

Summary

This study aimed to understand the risks of low oxygen levels during the first night after weight loss surgery, especially for patients who might have undiagnosed sleep apnea. Researchers observed 563 patients receiving standard oxygen therapy to count how often their oxygen dropped and what actions nurses had to take. The goal was to identify which patient characteristics might increase the risk of these breathing problems.
