New oxygen mask tested to keep patients safer during complex scans
NCT ID NCT06681558
Summary
This study tested whether a new type of oxygen mask works better than the standard nasal tube at preventing dangerously low oxygen levels in patients undergoing a specialized digestive scan called ERCP. The procedure often requires deep sedation, which can make breathing difficult. Researchers randomly assigned 150 patients to receive oxygen through either the mask or the nasal tube to see which one was more effective at keeping oxygen levels safe.
