Breathing breakthrough? extra oxygen during ICU procedure aims to prevent dangerous drops

NCT ID NCT07189338

Summary

This study aims to see if providing a high flow of oxygen directly to the nose during the brief moment a breathing tube is placed can prevent dangerously low oxygen levels in critically ill ICU patients. It will compare this approach to the current standard care in 500 adults with severe lung failure who need a breathing tube. The goal is to make this common but risky procedure safer by reducing complications.
