Doctors test if oxygen monitors give wrong readings, affecting patient care

NCT ID NCT05590130

Summary

This study aims to understand how different brands of finger-clip oxygen monitors and different target oxygen levels affect how much oxygen doctors give to patients. Researchers will test two common monitor brands (Nonin and Philips) and two oxygen level targets (90% and 94%) in 40 adults recovering from heart surgery in the intensive care unit. The goal is to see if the monitor used changes the oxygen flow needed to reach the target, which could impact patient safety and treatment.
