New ultrasound plan aims to halve stillbirths by spotting tiny babies

NCT ID NCT03662178

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at a new way of using ultrasound scans during pregnancy to find babies that are not growing well. Poor growth is a major risk factor for stillbirth, but current methods miss about 3 out of 4 cases. The Oxford Growth Restriction Pathway (OxGRIP) adds extra scans at 28, 32, and 36 weeks for all pregnant women. Researchers will compare stillbirth rates before and after the program started, using data from 56,000 pregnancies.
