Oxford researchers investigate hidden cause of deadly pregnancy complication

NCT ID NCT07072052

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study aims to understand how a small gland in the ovary, called the corpus luteum, affects the risk of preeclampsia—a serious pregnancy condition that can harm both mother and baby. Researchers will measure hormone levels and use ultrasound to examine the gland in 360 women during early pregnancy. The goal is to find better ways to predict preeclampsia, not to test a new treatment.
