New study aims to spare ovarian cancer patients unnecessary major surgery

NCT ID NCT07416435

Summary

This study aims to improve how doctors plan surgery for ovarian cancer. Researchers will compare three methods—CT scans, a minimally invasive 'keyhole' surgery look, and the final open surgery—to see which best predicts if all visible tumor can be safely removed. The goal is to help patients avoid a major open surgery if complete tumor removal is unlikely, allowing them to start chemotherapy sooner instead.
