New Two-Step surgery aims to prevent cancer while delaying menopause

NCT ID NCT01907789

Summary

This study compares three different approaches to prevent ovarian cancer in women who carry BRCA gene mutations. Participants choose between regular cancer screening, immediate removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes, or a new two-step surgery that removes tubes first and delays ovary removal to postpone menopause. The main goal is to see if women actually complete the second surgery and whether removing tubes alone reduces cancer risk.
