NCT ID NCT05856838
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a procedure called NovaSure radiofrequency ablation can be done safely and comfortably in an outpatient setting for women with heavy menstrual bleeding. The procedure destroys the lining of the uterus to reduce bleeding. Researchers will measure patient satisfaction and pain levels in 30 women aged 35-50 who have not responded to other treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NovaSure radiofrequency ablation device
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer women a convenient, same-day procedure to reduce heavy bleeding without needing a hospital stay.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The procedure may not fully stop bleeding and some women may need further treatment.
