New study aims to stop deadly stomach bleeds without surgery

NCT ID NCT04902248

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study compares two procedures for people whose upper stomach bleeding continues after initial treatment. One uses a special clip placed during endoscopy, the other uses X-ray-guided embolization to block the bleeding vessel. About 236 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two approaches to see which works better at stopping the bleed and reducing the need for further interventions.
