Skin scan may reveal why bone drugs fail for some

NCT ID NCT07329543

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people with osteoporosis continue to break bones even while taking bone-strengthening medication. Researchers will use a quick, non-invasive skin scan to measure 'AGEs,' natural waste products that build up over time and may weaken bone quality. They will follow 240 patients starting new osteoporosis treatment for a year to see if their initial AGE level predicts how well their bones respond and if they have fewer fractures.
