New strategy aims to stop bone loss when switching osteoporosis treatments

NCT ID NCT05655013

Summary

This study is testing whether a different medication, zoledronate, given as an infusion, can help maintain bone density in women who are stopping their current osteoporosis treatment, denosumab. It involves 200 postmenopausal women who have been on denosumab for at least two years. Researchers want to see if giving zoledronate at specific times or based on blood tests can prevent the bone loss that often happens when stopping denosumab.
