Scientists search for hidden link between weak bones and bad gums

NCT ID NCT07294105

Summary

This study aimed to understand the biological connection between osteoporosis (bone loss) and periodontal disease (gum disease) in women after menopause. Researchers measured specific proteins related to inflammation and bone breakdown in the blood and gum fluid of 80 participants. The goal was to see if these protein levels could explain why the two conditions often occur together.
