Pregnancy bodywork study halted early – too few volunteers

NCT ID NCT06570395

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) – a type of hands-on bodywork – given during the last three months of pregnancy could shorten labor, reduce pain medicine use, and lower the chance of complications like tears or C-sections. The study planned to compare a group receiving OMT to a control group, but it was stopped early after enrolling only 5 people. Because of this, no reliable conclusions can be drawn.
