Do plastic surgical anchors cause hidden bone damage? new study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT06824545

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study will check how often bone loss happens around PEEK (a type of plastic) anchors used in hand and wrist surgeries, compared to metal or dissolving anchors. Researchers will review X-rays from 180 patients who had these anchors placed in the last 10 years. The goal is to see if bone loss causes any problems like pain, complications, or need for more surgery.
