Fat cell therapy for arthritis shows early promise but study halted

NCT ID NCT04405297

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested a treatment for osteoarthritis using a patient's own fat cells (called adipose-derived regenerative cells). The goal was to see if injecting these cells into painful joints like the knee, hip, or shoulder could safely reduce pain and improve movement. Only 14 people took part before the study was stopped early, so results are limited.
