Looking back: did braces help kids with SMA walk and sit?
NCT ID NCT00961103
Summary
This study looked back at past medical records to understand how leg braces (orthoses) affected movement in children with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) types II and III. Researchers analyzed data from about 80 patients to see when and how often they achieved sitting, standing, and walking, and what types of braces they used. The goal was to gather knowledge about the relationship between brace use and motor development, not to test a new treatment.
