First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study aims to find genetic changes that cause orofacial clefts (cleft lip/palate) but are missed by standard tests. Researchers will use a new, high-resolution DNA mapping method called optical genome mapping on 26 people with clefts who have no known genetic diagnosis. The goal is to better understand the genetic roots of this common birth condition.
