Scientists grow Patients' own cells to patch leaking bile ducts
NCT ID NCT07214649
Summary
This study is testing a new personalized treatment for bile leaks that don't heal with standard procedures after liver surgery or transplant. Doctors will grow a patient's own bile duct cells in the lab into tiny 3D structures called organoids, then deliver them back to the leak site. The goal is to see if this approach can safely and effectively seal these stubborn leaks and help patients avoid repeat procedures or another transplant.
