Summary

This study compares two ways of giving penicillin to children aged 5-17 with early signs of rheumatic heart disease. One group gets a shot every month, the other takes a pill twice a day. The goal is to see if the pill works just as well to stop the heart disease from getting worse over two years. The trial involves over 1,000 children and also looks at costs and convenience.
