Could a pill replace the IV drip for dangerous blood infections?

NCT ID NCT06080698

Summary

This large hospital study is testing whether patients with serious Gram-negative bloodstream infections can safely switch from intravenous (IV) antibiotics to oral pills earlier in their treatment. Researchers want to see if taking pills works as well as staying on IV antibiotics, while potentially reducing side effects and shortening hospital stays. The trial will compare outcomes for over 1,000 patients randomly assigned to either continue IV treatment or switch to oral medication.
