Could less radiation mean fewer side effects for tongue cancer patients?

Summary
This study is testing whether limiting radiation treatment to just the lymph nodes in the neck, while avoiding the tongue surgery site, can reduce painful mouth sores and other side effects for people with oral tongue cancer. Researchers will enroll 24 patients who have already had surgery to remove their tumor and will track whether this focused approach still effectively prevents the cancer from coming back. Participants will also complete quality-of-life questionnaires to see if this method improves their daily experience during and after treatment.
