First taste test for hopeful liver disease drug in babies

NCT ID NCT06260566

Summary

This early-stage study aims to see if a medicine called N-acetylcysteine (NAC), given by mouth mixed with applesauce, is safe and tolerable for infants with biliary atresia, a serious liver disease. The main goal is to find the right dose that babies can keep down without vomiting. If successful, this oral medicine could become a new supportive treatment to help manage the disease alongside surgery.
