NCT ID NCT06820320

First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested whether drinking iohexol, a liquid usually used for X-ray scans, can help stop chylous ascites — a buildup of milky fluid in the belly that sometimes happens after cancer surgery. 42 adults who had this complication after abdominal or pelvic cancer surgery took oral iohexol. Many saw their fluid drain stop within days, suggesting it may be a simple, convenient treatment. The goal was to control the condition, not cure the underlying cancer.
