Could a common side effect be a secret weapon against cancer?

NCT ID NCT07271498

Summary

This study looked at patients who received a stem cell transplant for blood cancers. Researchers wanted to see if a common side effect—mouth sores known as oral graft-versus-host disease (GVHD)—could be a simple sign that the new donor cells are actively fighting the leukemia. They followed 93 patients to understand if this mouth condition is linked to better survival and lower cancer relapse rates.
