Pill for babies: trial aims to swap painful insulin shots for oral medicine

NCT ID NCT00610038

Summary

This study tested if babies with a rare, permanent form of diabetes caused by specific genetic mutations could safely switch from daily insulin injections to an oral pill called glibenclamide. It involved 19 infants and young children to see if the pill could control their blood sugar as well as insulin. Researchers also checked if the pill might improve any related neurological or developmental issues.
