Pill before the knife: new hope for head and neck cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07254962

Summary

This study is testing if giving patients a short course of an oral chemotherapy pill called capecitabine before their cancer surgery can lead to better results. The goal is to shrink tumors faster, make surgery less complex, and improve long-term survival for people with newly diagnosed, advanced head and neck cancer. About 75 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either this new pre-surgery treatment or the current standard of care.
