New education program aims to shield cancer patients from agonizing mouth sores
NCT ID NCT06690346
Summary
This study tested whether a structured oral health education program could prevent painful mouth sores (oral mucositis) in patients receiving radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. 150 patients were randomly assigned to receive either this systematic education or standard oral care instructions. Researchers compared the two groups to see if the more detailed education program was better at reducing the incidence and severity of these common and debilitating treatment side effects.
