New mouth scan aims to spot cancer earlier

NCT ID NCT01269190

Summary

This study is testing whether a new imaging method can help doctors better see and identify abnormal spots in the mouth. Researchers will apply a special dye and use special cameras to take pictures of mouth lesions in patients already scheduled for surgery. The goal is to see if this non-invasive imaging can accurately tell the difference between normal tissue and potentially pre-cancerous or cancerous areas.
