Lung cancer biopsy study aims to improve genetic testing accuracy

NCT ID NCT05560776

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at 120 people with suspected or confirmed non-small cell lung cancer who need a tissue sample for genetic testing. During a routine ultrasound-guided biopsy, participants are randomly assigned to have either 2 or 3 samples taken from each lymph node. They also give a blood sample for a liquid biopsy. The goal is to see if taking fewer samples still provides enough material for genetic tests, and whether the blood test can find important genetic changes that the tissue sample might miss.
