First seen Nov 26, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looked at how to increase the number of patients who get DPYD testing before starting chemotherapy for gastrointestinal cancer. DPYD testing checks for gene changes that can cause severe or even deadly side effects from common chemo drugs. Researchers tested different messages (nudges) with 50 participants, including patients, family members, and healthcare workers, to see which ones work best to encourage testing.
